Answers to what we get asked most.
Units & Sizes
What size unit do I need?
A 5x5 holds 15 to 20 boxes. A 10x10 fits a one-bedroom apartment. A 10x20 fits a three-bedroom house or a vehicle. Our Units & Pricing page has all twelve sizes with descriptions and photos. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one. It costs less than renting a second unit later.
What is the difference between a 5x10 and a 10x5?
They are the same 50 square feet, turned different directions. A 5x10 is narrow and deep, which suits things you pack once and leave. A 10x5 is wide and shallow, so everything stays within reach of the door. Choose the 10x5 if you plan to visit often.
Can I store a car, motorcycle, or trailer?
[Confirm before publishing. Depends on drive-up access and door width.] Motorcycles fit in a 5x10 or larger. Most cars, SUVs, and standard pickups fit in a 10x20. Longer trucks and vans need a 10x25 or 10x30.
Can I switch to a different size later?
Yes, as long as the size you want is available. Talk to Greg and he will move you over.
How tall are the units?
Standard unit height is 9ft tall.
Access & Security
When can I access my unit?
Any time. Every tenant gets a personal gate code that works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. Your access is not limited to office hours.
What are the office hours?
Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm. Saturday, 9am to noon. Closed Sunday. You still have gate access outside those hours.
How secure is the facility?
Security fencing around the property, security lighting, electronic gate entry with individual access codes, and nightly checks. A manager lives on site.
Is there someone at the facility?
Yes. Greg Yoakum manages the property and is in the office six days a week. [Confirm whether he lives on site, since "resident manager" appears in existing materials.]
Do I need my own lock?
Bring your own padlock or buy one at the office. You keep the only key. [Confirm whether the facility keeps a master or overlock.]
Who else can get into my unit?
Only people you authorize. Each tenant has their own gate code. [Confirm the process for adding an authorized person.]
Renting & Payment
How do I rent a unit?
Check availability on our Units & Pricing page or call the office. Greg confirms the unit, you sign a month-to-month agreement at the office, and you get your gate code the same day. Most rentals take about ten minutes.
Is there a long-term contract?
No. All units rent month to month.
Do you offer a military discount?
Yes. Active duty personnel get 10% off the monthly rate with a valid military ID. You can also get 10% off by prepaying three or more months. One discount applies per rental, and Greg will help you work out which saves more.
Is there a deposit or fees?
A deposit equal to one month's rent is due at signing, and there is a one-time $10 administration fee. [Confirm deposit refund conditions.]
What payment methods do you accept?
Cash, check, and all major credit cards. [Confirm whether autopay is available.]
When is rent due?
[Needs an answer. Due date, grace period, and late fee. This is one of the most searched storage questions and leaving it out costs calls.]
Do I need insurance?
Coverage is optional but recommended. Many renters and homeowners policies already extend to storage, so check yours first. [Confirm whether the facility sells a policy, and whether proof of coverage is required.]
Are rates prorated?
Yes. Rates are monthly and prorated from the day your rental starts.
Policies & Moving Out
What am I not allowed to store?
No flammable or explosive materials, no hazardous chemicals, no perishable food, no living things, and nothing illegal. If you are unsure about an item, ask Greg before move-in day.
How much notice do I need to give before moving out?
[Needs an answer. Usually 10 to 30 days. Include whether notice must be in writing.]
Do I get money back if I move out mid-month?
[Needs an answer. Whether the final month is prorated is the single most common source of storage disputes, so this belongs in writing.]
What happens if I miss a payment?
[Needs an answer. Late fee, when the gate code is disabled, and the lien timeline. State it plainly. Tenants respect a clear policy and resent a vague one.]
What condition does the unit need to be in when I leave?
Empty and swept. Take your lock with you and let Greg know you are out so he can close the account.
